Due to yellowish-golden tinge produced by the yellow sand and yellow sandstone used everywhere in the city, it is sometimes called as the “Golden City of India”. The city stands on a ridge of stand stone, against the backdrop of an astonishing fort.
The city is adorned with many beautiful Jain and Hindu temples. Being a prominent center for performing arts, tourists can enjoy dance forms like Kalbelia and savor the local folk music.
